"Possibility and promise greet me each day as I walk out into my garden. My vigor is renewed when I breathe in the earthiness and feel the dirt between my fingers. My garden is a peaceful spot to refresh my soul." Meems

Lights in Bloom and Happy 2011

Before we say goodbye to the lights and magic of Christmas I'd like to share a very special botanical garden with you. Selby gardens is a mere 75 miles south of me. It is a lush tropical paradise located right on the Sarasota Bay. One of my top 10 favorite destination cities in Florida.

Taking time to visit more gardens was a goal I was determined to achieve in 2010. What that means is getting out of my own garden long enough to venture a walk-through of other gardener's handiworks. In theory it sounds easy enough. Truth is, it is on my top 10 list of most fun activities. In practicality it has never been something I take the time to do. This year was a good start. I've shared with you some of my journeys here.

A trip to Selby Gardens in October and another on a very cold December night for their "Lights in Bloom' event proved to be even more than delightful than anticipated.

There's much more to share of my daytime trip from October which I vow (to myself) to take time to post here in the future. I think you will love seeing these tropical gardens as much as I do.

I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year in 2011. All the best of gardening dreams come true.

Here's to new beginnings in 2011... new days, new projects, new motivation, new growth, new ideas, new seasons, new words, new plants, new energy, new inspiration, new fruit to bear, new blessings ... oh, NEW is good to dream about today.
Are there 'new' dreams on your mind for the new year?
