What a positive summary of our "seasons" in Florida. Over the years, I've come to consider Aug/Sept as my garden's down time, as I imagine winters are to gardeners up north.

You have the most beautiful caladiums, Meems! A variety that loves sun sounds great. Your advice on the "right plant, right place" is true for any garden. Here in the Midwest I've learned that tough plants that can take drought are the best choices, because the weather is so unpredictable. We're enjoying some welcome rainy days right now.

I'm so happy that your Angel's Trumpet is blooming for you.I just love them.Sad to say,one of my Australian Tree Ferns bit the dust(w/ the tree falling down)and the other is getting way too much sun.

Hi Meems, somehow i am a bit sorry if those healthy and lush plants will just succumb to fall and winter. We have the same vegetation but somehow yours look happier, that is because we dont tend to them much, plant and neglect is our habit. I certainly agree with what everyone else has said about your post. We have been remodeling our kitchen this summer and the flower beds have had to go by the wayside for a while. Really hard to look at what needs to be done. But, the butterflies and hummers have been numerous the last month also. Which I have really enjoyed watching from afar.

Thanks... aren't the butterflies great this month! I think we will always try to force a few unsuitable varieties because we can. But you are correct ... they make us work hard for any success with them.

It thrills my heart to know you are enjoying your caladiums. They are so bright and cheery in any garden! Rain coming again here, too. I never want to shoo it away because we can always use a surplus even if the plants don't appreciate it when it comes all at once. :-)

Your plants look healthy and happy. I too look forward to autumn with cooler temps and some dry air....and WITHOUT mosquitos! Last weekend it was beautiful and then a system moved in...not to bring rain...but humidity!! Yuck!
