Picture This: Sea Oats at Sunset

Sea Oats, Uniola paniculata, Longboat Key Beach, FL *click to enlarge*
Sea oats minus their summer spikelets of seed heads silhouetted against a breathtaking January sunset.

The good folks over at Gardening Gone Wild are the generous hosts for the monthly 'Picture This' Photo contest. This is my entry for September.

I guess I'm counting on this statement in the description of what Nan Ondra, this month's judge, will be looking for: "Anything from the grass family counts, so sedges, rushes, and true grasses are all fair game."

Good luck to everyone participating. Thank you to Nan and Gardening Gone Wild.

  3. These are all so beautiful, Meems, I don't know how you chose just one! But this photo really conveys paradise to me--watching a sunset on the beach; it doesn't get any better than that.

All of these entries in the GGW contest have convinced me I need to plant some grasses in my garden!

  6. Thank you all for visiting and for your encouragement...

This photo evokes peaceful memories of a beautiful evening on the beach with one of the most magnificent sunsets I've been blessed to share with my dear Mr. Meems by my side.

The chairs were not ours but placed in the exact spot we decided to pull into on one clear January evening.
