room with a view

Occasionally someone will ask what i suggest for getting starting in a garden?? my usual answer is to be sure the front door entry is pleasing to you and welcoming to guests. the first impression is made there and it is fairly simple to spruce up a front entry without breaking the bank. a simple potted plant can brighten and welcome. after that check the view from the inside out. consider the scope you see when looking out from one of your frequented windows, then create an attractive vignette you will see from that vantage point.

my kitchen window (where i spend a large dose of time) happens to overlook the lanai and the pool and beyond that i can see a wide angle of my back yard. in planning and growing my garden one of the ways i determine what will go where is based on what i can see from my kitchen window. think about it next time you look out of a frequently trafficked window. do you like what you see? we can beautify our own world and make our life more enjoyable in small ways.

  1. Excellent advice, Meems! I'm trying to talk Duller into getting a roof put over our small front deck. A porch, IMHO, is so much more inviting in so many ways.

Hope you and yours have a JESUS-filled weekend! ^i^

  4. I would hazard a guess on sophiemae's acronym to mean "in my humble opinion". Am I right on this?
